About me
Hi, my name is Ton Haarmans and right now my work consists of giving training in graphics software, doing design work for clients and now and then write a book. As of March 2008, I am an Adobe Certified Expert for Photoshop CS3.
Next to that I am part of Pantha Software Ltd, who's main activity is to develop transLucid into a multi-platform online publishing solution.
And yes, I can be hired! Contact me. My CV (in Dutch) can be found here.
Next to Wide Open Windows I am also the webmaster of 'Just around the corner', a website about the philosophy of non-duality.
About this site
• This site is designed in Photoshop CS3. Then in Dreamweaver CS3 the Photoshop slice tables have been converted into strict XHTML 1.0, by hand, using CSS 2.0.
• The 'fisheye menu' has been adopted from Marc Grabanski. Some of the icons come from Nick La of N.Design, who offers a similar menu, which unfortunately does not work so well under Safari. Other icons have been created by me in Photoshop. PNG alpha transparency in IE5.5 and IE6 has been accomplished by using a conditional comment, a blank gif and a htc file, a solution from TwinHelix.
• The slideshows on the introduction and portfolio pages have been adapted from the open source project Slideshow 2! of Aeron Glemann.
• The rounded corner divs on the page with my books have been made with curvyCorners.
• Email addresses on this site (Home and Contact page) have been 'cloaked' against spambots by cloak.js.
• The target attribute cannot be used with strict XHTML and so a liitle script has been used in combination with the attribute rel="external": target.js.
• On the page for the Tips & Tricks a script has been used to measure the height of the contents of an inline frame, so that no scrollbars are needed. you can download that solution here.
• The three scripts mentioned above work with an eventlistener, so that no onload event is needed in the <body> tag.
• Ah and then there are the Links pages. These have been done by transLucid and every link/page has been saved in a MySQL database through PHP. I can update the links wherever there is a computer with an internet connction, because transLucid also works as an online CMS! The interesting thing for me here is that with transLucid the relations between pages can be non-hierarchical, which is not possible with a normal menu system.
